Dress code = visual language
93% of communication is non-verbal, while only 7% is language. Yet language is the icing on the cake, because eloquence reflects your level of thinking.
Nice clothes, a straight posture, a confident and deep voice without squeaky intonation - all of these contribute to how you come across. Sentences that are affirmative should also remain affirmative. Your choice of words says a lot about your social level.
Your outward presentation and the way you communicate are therefore crucial in how others perceive you, especially in a business context. We live increasingly international, and the culture continues to evolve, but the unwritten rules of conduct remain. Ultimately, the choice is yours; it depends on which social or business circles you want to be allowed into and how important that is to you.
